The Beaufort County Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee is now accepting applications for the FY2026–2027 State Accommodations Tax (State ATAX) Grant Program from eligible organizations seeking funding from the two percent (2%) State Accommodations Tax Fund.

South Carolina law authorizes a two percent (2%) accommodations tax on the rental of transient accommodations to provide financial support for tourism promotion and tourism-related activities throughout the state's counties and municipalities.

Accordingly, individuals staying overnight in hotels, motels, inns, vacation rentals, and other transient accommodations pay an additional two percent (2%) State Accommodations Tax, in addition to applicable state and local sales and use taxes.

State ATAX Workshop Requirement

Applications submitted by organizations that did not attend the required workshop will not be accepted for review. The application window will close on Friday, September 11, 2026.

All applications must be complete, include all required supporting documentation, and be submitted by the published application deadline.
